to give someone a piece of your mind
If you give someone a piece of your mind you tell them how angry you are with them.
"When my son gets home I'm going to give him a piece of my mind. He said he would be home by 9pm and it's 11pm now!"

to look like the cat that got the cream
Imagine the satisfied, contented look of a cat that has just drunk a bowl of cream. It's smiling, and is very, very happy (it looks smug). If someone looks like the cat that got the cream then they look very, very happy. Maybe they have done well in a test. Maybe they have won a lot of money in the lottery. We don't know the reason, but we do know that they are very satisfied. The look on their face tells us that.

He put all the patients in a room, pointed to the wall  and said, "The first one to open that door will get fifty dollars." The patients rushed to the wall and started pulling and  shoving each other.
Then the doctor saw one patient  sitting in one corner. Thinking that this patient had realized that there was no door, he walked to him and asked him, "So why don't you want to get the fifty dollars?"
The patient calmly replied, "Those fools are never going to open that door. They need the key first!"
