What an age we are in .
We have taller buildings but shorts tempers.
Wider freeways but narrower viewpoints.
We spend more but save less.
We buy more but enjoy less.
We have bigger houses but smaller families.
More conveniences but less time.
We have more degrees but less common sense
More knowledge but less judgments
More medicines but less well being.
We spend too much, laugh too little, drive too fast, get angry too quickly, stay up too lake , get up too tired read too rarely, watch too much of TV and pray too little.
We have multiplied our possessions but reduced our values.
We talk too much, love too seldom and lie too often.
We have learned how to make a living but not a life.
We have added years to life, not life to years.
We have been all the way to the moon and back but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbors.
We have conquered outer space but not inner space.
We write more but accomplish less. Plan more but accomplish less.
We have learnt to rush but not to wait, we have high income but lower morals, more food but less appetite More acquaintances but fewer friends.
We make more computers hold more information than even before but have less communications
We have become large on quantity but short on quality that we live in a time of fast food and slow digestions, tall men and short character, sleep profits and shallow relationships.
We are in the time of world peace and domestic warfare More desire and less fun : more varieties of food but less nutrition. These are the days of two incomes but more devices, of fancies house but broken homes, These are days of quick trips, throwaway morality and pills that do everything from cheer to silence.
THINK – are we becoming modern or just characterless.
