iCloud is an account that gives users access to tools built around synchronising and accessing data on multiple devices. Most users have stored all their photos, videos, contacts, notes, documents and more on the cloud by default.
Interestingly, there is a difference between iCloud and Apple ID as Apple ID is seen as a larger account that includes iCloud and other services like Apple Music and AppleCare. Also, users can log into all of these using a single Apple ID email and password. Notably, Apple offers only 5GB of free iCloud storage for each Apple ID.
Users often overlook that they probably have more data in-store on iCloud than required. Therefore, it becomes important to manage your iCloud account once in a while. However, the procedure for the same is pretty easy and it can be done on any device such as iPhone, iPad, Mac or even through the website.
Steps to managing iCloud accounts through the website
Step 1: Visit the icloud.com address. Enter the email address linked to your Apple ID account.
Step 2: Click on the arrow icon and then enter your password.
Step 3: If you have two-factor authentication set up on your Apple ID account, a code will be sent to all your devices.
Step 4: Enter the code received on the iCloud website to gain access.
Step 5: Now, a list of icons and options will appear on your screen (more icons will appear on the desktop version than on a smartphone). Click on any of the icons to see the data stored in your iCloud account.
Step 6: You will be able to move, delete or even download anything that you've saved.
Point to note: You can access your iCloud account as long as you have your computer or phone connected to the internet.
This is how you can access and manage your iCloud account through the website. Similarly, you can also manage your iCloud account through the Apple ID menu, which is present at the top of the 'Settings app' on iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Follow the steps mentioned below.
Steps to manage iCloud on an iPhone, iPad or Mac
Step 1: Open 'Settings' on an iPhone or iPad. Tap your name given at the top of all the options on the screen. Similarly, on a Mac, click the Apple logo given in the top-left corner and select the option 'System Preferences'. Then tap on 'Apple ID'
Step 2: Next, from the provided options on the page, click on the 'iCloud' option.
Step 3: Once done, you'll be shown the storage space that you have in your iCloud account. Also, the kind of data that is stored.
Step 4: Select the 'Manage' option to see exactly how much data each app takes. This also lets you upgrade your iCloud storage plan.
Step 5: You'll also find an 'Apps Using iCloud section' on the page. Select which apps you want to allow to save data to iCloud and which ones you want to keep the data stored only on your device. You can always turn off the option for any app to erase its data from iCloud immediately.
