How to stop videos automatically playing on Facebook

When we open our Facebook app, there are numerous videos that scroll down automatically on our screen. These videos can consume a lot of data from our mobile data plans. So, the auto-play feature on Facebook can be stopped by disabling the video auto-play option.

Even if we have unlimited data plans, the videos that appear on the Facebook Newsfeed can bother us unnecessarily at times. These videos can be annoying with the loud noises and also make your device slower. There are ways to turn off the auto-play video option on Facebook. Steps to stop videos from automatically playing on Facebook on your desktop:

Step 1: Open your Facebook account on your desktop and log in to it.

Step 2: Tap on the downward-facing arrow in the top toolbar and click on "Settings."

Step 3: Next select the "Videos" option in the toolbar on the right side of the screen.

Step 4: The icon next to "Auto-play videos," is selected "Off" from the drop-down menu.

Step 5: From there, you can also change the default video quality, as well as turn it on or off.

Steps to stop videos from automatically playing on Facebook on your iPhone:

Step 1: Open the Facebook app on your iOS device.

Step 2: Tap on the hamburger icon with three vertical lines at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3: Scroll down the screen and click on "Settings and Privacy"

Step 4: Then choose "Settings" options.

Step 5: Scroll down once more to the "Media and Contacts"

Step 6: Then tap on "Videos and Photos."

Step 7: Select the "Autoplay" icon

Step 8: Next choose the "Never Autoplay Videos" to turn off auto-play.

Step 1: Open your Facebook app on your android device

Step 2: Click on the three stacked lines at the top of the screen.

Step 3: Now click on the "Settings & Privacy" followed by "Settings."

Step 4: Scroll down and tap on the "Media and Contacts."

Step 5: Choose "Autoplay."

Step 6: Finally select the "Never Autoplay Videos."
