In
general the concept of climate change is widely talked and discussed, but the
reality about this phenomenon is very less understood. And it has become
necessary that we should update and get the right knowledge regarding this
serious subject.
According
to the United Nations – Climate change refers to long-term shifts in
temperature and weather patterns. These shifts may be natural, but since the
1800s, human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily
due to the burning of fossil fuels (like coal, oil and gas), which produces
heat trapping gases.
In
simple terms -Climate change describes change in the weather of a region, such
as high and low temperatures and the variations in the amount of rainfall –
over a long period of time.
The
Earth is warming – The past 20 years have happened to have the warmest years on
record.
Unusual Heavy Rainfall causing Floods - We have been experiencing heavy
floods in areas where such happenings are new.
Very
Low Rainfall causing Drought –Drought is also dangerous as it affects food
production and causes health problems.
The
climate patterns are changing and it has become very much necessary to
understand “ What Climate Change is and as humans how we can prepare for the
future.”
